In Phase Two of Early Childhood Education, we offer a quality education, taking as fundamental premises the concepts of affection, love, and teaching with passion.  Every child is different and, therefore, we cultivate the creativity of each one of them – preparing them to live in this changing world.

We encourage learning by discovery and investigation, taking teamwork as a basis for our activities: “learning together” and “learning by playing” are our watchwords. We are flexible and our teachers take on the role of guide, adapting to the in-class needs at all times.

OBJECTIVES.

Phase Two of Early Childhood Education aims to help the children to develop the skills which allow them to:

  • Become familiar with their own body and that of others, as well as possibilities for action, and to learn to respect differences.
  • Observe and explore their family, natural, and social contexts. To become familiar with and appreciate some of their own characteristics and customs, as well as to participate actively –and gradually– in social and cultural activities related with their own sphere.
  • Acquire autonomy in their routine activities.
  • Develop their emotional skills.
  • Interact with others and attain elementary guidelines for social coexistence and relations, as well as to exercise peaceful conflict resolution.
  • Develop communication skills in different languages and through different forms of expression.
  • Begin with logical/mathematical and reading/writing skills, as well as to develop movement, gestures, and rhythm.

METHODOLOGY.

The methodology that we use is active and participatory in nature, with the student being the main player in his/her own learning. We strive to innovate by making use of the new methodologies set forth in the LOMCE (Organic Law for the Improvement of Educational Quality), such as the use of ICT resources, cooperative learning, and project work for certain activities throughout the school year (Easter, the vegetable garden, the classroom library, Laterne, schoolyard corners, the classroom pet, etc.). The projects undertaken throughout the year are developed by the teachers themselves at the centre.

It could be said that our methodology is based on:

  • Learning by playing.
  • Meaningful learning.
  • Excitement and fun for the kids.
  • Discovery and investigation.
  • The students are motivated because the activities arouse their questions and interests.
  • Choice of motivating topics of interest to work on logical/mathematical skills, reading/writing, visual arts, movement, gestures, and rhythm.
  • The teacher, as a guide, has the task of accompanying, helping, suggesting, etc.
  • Cooperation with families.
